Application and Deadlines

The application process for the Summer Experience Grant (SEG) depends on the experience students wish to fund with the SEG. Students applying for eligible study abroad program funding must submit an application for a Yale Summer Session (YSS) Abroad or a Yale in London by the program deadline. The SEG Request form is part of the study abroad program application. 

Students applying for professional development funding apply through the Yale Student Grants Database. 

Deadlines vary depending on the type of SEG requested.

Application Steps

SEG for Study Abroad

Students must apply for an eligible Yale Study Abroad or Yale in London program. The SEG Request Form in Yale Compass is part of the required documents students must complete to apply for their program of choice. 

The SEG Request Form is a simple Yes/No document. Students must make sure to click SUBMIT (not just save) the form. By requesting the SEG, students agree to be bound by all SEG policies.

SEG for Professional Development

To request the SEG for a professional development experience, students must:

• Confirm that the proposed experience is eligible for the SEG.
• Apply for the opportunity.

Students must have their experience secured before the SEG can be disbursed. The SEG for Professional Development requires the hosting organization or supervisor to fill out documentation confirming that the experience fulfills SEG eligibility criteria as part of the SEG application.
